Giving NAVEUR-NAVAF leaders and teams the skills for efficient and timely communication and action in critical situations.
Challenge: Due to the challenges associated with operating naval forces in the dynamic and highly diverse area of operations, planning and plan execution is first and foremost on the Commander's mind. Therefore, it is critical that command personnel are skilled team members capable of adapting to multiple, and often simultaneous, military planning efforts and of conducting their actions and communications efficiently.
Collaboration: The command's Training and Readiness Directorate identified coaching as a skill set necessary for successfully addressing the challenge. The Association for Talent Development (ATD) and the CNE-CNA-C6F Director of Training and Readiness selected Emergent's Jennifer Stanford to deliver the association's two-day Coaching Certificate Program.
Impact: At the conclusion of the program, course participants reported increased confidence and knowledge and were able to skillfully employ coaching techniques that would facilitate conversation within their cross-functional teams. This new knowledge and practical experience empowered leaders and is helping to increase trust and cooperation among team members as they continue to manage a unique mission in this dynamic work environment.
The USNF of Europe-Africa and SIXTH Fleet (CNE-CNA-C6F) area of operations covers approximately half of the Atlantic Ocean, from the North Pole to Antarctica, as well as the Adriatic, Baltic, Barents, Black, Caspian, Mediterranean and North seas.
One of the Navy's priorities is the professional development of both our military and civilian workforce. Jennifer is a mainstay of our professional development program, having provided our Sailors and civilians with much needed coaching skills over the past few years. The knowledge she has transferred to our junior and mid-grade leaders has served to boost their performance as cross-functional team members and positively influenced our mission effectiveness. Her coaching experience and familiarity with the military added to her credibility and expert classroom presentation. We would gladly have her back again!
